Corina T. CRETU
Corina Cretu, Vice-chairwoman of the Committee on Development of the European Parliament, at 7th June 2009 has been elected as Member of European Parliament on the Romanian Social Democrat Party sites, continuing her previous mandate obtained at the 25th November 2007 elections. In her recent publication "European Romania" Corina Cretu shares her insights on European encounters.
The present activity of Ms. Cretu also includes her membership in the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs as substitute, the full membership of the EP Delegation for relations with the United States, and the membership of the Board of Parliamentary Network of World Bank.
In 2004 Corina Cretu was elected as Senator of the Romanian Parliament, in this position developing her activity within the Foreign Policy Committee of the Senate, and as Romanian observer MEP.
During 2000 – 2004 Ms. Cretu was Counsellor of the President of Romania, Spokesperson of the President of Romania Ion Iliescu, and Head of the Department on Public Communication within the Institution of the President of Romania. In 2000, Ms. Cretu was elected and took activities as Member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament, until undertaking her position at the Institution of the President of Romania as Counsellor.

Co-organized and hosted the first European Socialist Development Day. The event took place in Bucharest, Romania, and brought together socialist Members of the European Parliament, experts on Development, foreign and national actors in the Development field, the leadership of the Romanian Social Democratic Party and representatives of various international organizations.
